Empowering and educating families to achieve their feeding goals

·Working in conjunction with local statutory services to ensure that all families are able to access skilled and timely breastfeeding support.

LWBS will continue to develop and change their services in line with what their service users want to see provided. Currently we offer

Drop in breastfeeding cafes across the area staffed by trained volunteers to support breastfeeding in a community environment

A closed, closely moderated Facebook breastfeeding support group open to anyone in the area who is pregnant or lactating.

Low-cost loan of breast pumps.

Home visits from International Board Certified Lactation Consultants for those with complex feeding concerns.

Opportunities for peer supporters, breastfeeding counsellors and qualified health professionals to develop their knowledge around supporting families with low cost online education offerings.

Observation opportunities for student health professionals to increase their breastfeeding knowledge and competencies.

Working at a strategic level to link with local organisations to develop a support network for families across the third sector.
